Invitation to Sponsors
As INET'98 Sponsorship Chair, I would like to invite your organization
to be a sponsor of INET'98, the annual conference of the Internet Society.
The Internet is a relatively new and very powerful technology, which
from my viewpoint has contributed greatly to the preservation and furtherance
of open societies. I have invested heavily in providing Internet technology
for countries in eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union on the premise
that the free flow of information creates an informed citizenry, and that
this will maximize the probability that the society will remain open and
free. So far, my hopes have been met and exceeded. The Internet is a tool
that can add immeasureably to the general development of civil society,
in addition to making significant contributions to education, health, business,
commerce, and government. All of us have an stake in the health of its future.
From its inception, the Internet Society has been the prime mover behind
the beneficial open evolution of the Internet around the world. Its annual
INET conferences are attended by Internet leaders from almost every country.
Previous INET conferences have attracted between 1,500 - 3,300 attendees
from more than 150 countries. Due to the location of INET'98 in Geneva and
rapidly growing world interest in internetworking from all sectors including
international organizations such as the International Telecommunications
Union, INET'98 is expected to attract a larger audience - possibly 4,000
attendees.
The Internet Society deserves your support. It is in everyone's interest
to have this technology flourish without interference and to have its markets
and services grow without restrictions. As a sponsor of INET '98 your contribution
will provide you with access and exposure to this select group of networking
leaders, secure year-long recognition, and will allow you meet and discuss
your products, services, and objectives with them in the INET'98 Exhibition
Hall during 22-24 July 1998.
To become an INET'98 sponsor, you may contact the Internet Society International
Secretariat via telephone, + 1 703 648 9888, or via e-mail at <inet98sponsor@isoc.org>.
I encourage you to join me in supporting this worthwhile effort, and I look
forward to welcoming your organization as an INET'98 sponsor.
Sincerely yours,
George Soros
