Invitation to Sponsors As INET'98 Sponsorship Chair, I would like to invite your organizationto be a sponsor of INET'98, the annual conference of the Internet Society.
The Internet is a relatively new and very powerful technology, whichfrom my viewpoint has contributed greatly to the preservation and furtheranceof open societies. I have invested heavily in providing Internet technologyfor countries in eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union on the premisethat the free flow of information creates an informed citizenry, and thatthis will maximize the probability that the society will remain open andfree. So far, my hopes have been met and exceeded. The Internet is a toolthat can add immeasureably to the general development of civil society,in addition to making significant contributions to education, health, business, commerce, and government. All of us have an stake in the health of its future. From its inception, the Internet Society has been the prime mover behindthe beneficial open evolution of the Internet around the world. Its annualINET conferences are attended by Internet leaders from almost every country.Previous INET conferences have attracted between 1,500 - 3,300 attendeesfrom more than 150 countries. Due to the location of INET'98 in Geneva andrapidly growing world interest in internetworking from all sectors includinginternational organizations such as the International TelecommunicationsUnion, INET'98 is expected to attract a larger audience - possibly 4,000attendees. The Internet Society deserves your support. It is in everyone's interestto have this technology flourish without interference and to have its marketsand services grow without restrictions. As a sponsor of INET '98 your contributionwill provide you with access and exposure to this select group of networkingleaders, secure year-long recognition, and will allow you meet and discussyour products, services, and objectives with them in the INET'98 ExhibitionHall during 22-24 July 1998. To become an INET'98 sponsor, you may contact the Internet Society InternationalSecretariat via telephone, + 1 703 648 9888, or via e-mail at <inet98sponsor@isoc.org>.I encourage you to join me in supporting this worthwhile effort, and I lookforward to welcoming your organization as an INET'98 sponsor. Sincerely yours, George Soros Open Society Institute |
