GSM Mobile Connections and Reservations Reservation form is at the bottom of this page The GSM mobile phone system is digital, and thus can be used for data connections. Both rental of phones (voice only) and PCMCIA cards (require a laptop for power supply, but can be used for voice as well) are available. Cost for the week of the conference (Tues. through Sat.) is Fr. 85.-- plus the cost of the phone calls made; additional days before and/or after the conference are Fr. 10.--/day. For reference, local calls are Fr. 1.30/min from 7am to 7pm and Fr. 1.00/min from 7pm to 7am. Local internet accounts can be arranged. Payment must be made by credit card. The card imprint is taken at the time of the rental, but the total amount is not known until a few days after the phone has been turned in and the charges for all calls have been registered. Phones may be turned in at either the Geneva or the Zürich airport upon departure. Normally usage is restricted to Switzerland, but if you need to connect directly to other countries, this can be arranged; be sure to indicate on the registration form below. The GSM PCMCIA card is rented together with all needed software for Windows; at this time Mac versions of the software are not available. Help is available for configuration. Reservations must be received by 30 June to ensure a phone. After that date, reservations are subject to equipment availability. Reservations will be confirmed by e-mail.
