Dear Members of the Internet Society Community, I am deligthed to inform you that on Monday 30 January 2006, ISOC NIGERIA CHAPTER commissioned another project that is part of the Jon Postel's IT centers programme. The IT Center is located at the Federal University of Technology Nnamdi Azikiwe, at Akwa, Anambra State, Nigeria. This last center has been made possible thanks to our traditional sponsors and a support of the IEEE student members of the University section. The center is located in the department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering being part of the Faculty of Engineering and comprises:
This project that started on mid 2005 has a value of US$ 28,000 approximately. The IT Center has been named after our late first president Prof. T.C.Nwodo, and in Memory of Jon Postel that is the name of our IT center project. Authorities and school officials as well as Prof's relatives, students and professionals attended the ceremony and everybody praised the role of ISOC program. This is the eighth IT center commissioned on this program since its inception on 2002. We are planning for this year to estabilish another two IT centers located in other Nigerian Universities.
