Community Grants ProgrammePast AwardsThe Internet Society here presents the recipients of awards from its Community Grants Programme. The goal is to enhance the Internet environment around the world. This program initiative is intended to help ISOC Chapters and Members establish creative local programs in support of ensuring the "Internet is for Everyone." The project leaders will be making periodic reports on their progress that will all be made available on the ISOC website. ISOC Poland: E-Study BrokerageAs Lead in a Multi-Chapter Project, Project Leader: Dr. Jacek Gajewski awarded to offer a Web-based information and consultancy system about degree programs and other courses offered by quality universities in distance learning mode. Realized by ISOC Chapters from Poland, Chicago, Texas, Washington DC, Slovenia, Republic of Georgia, Puerto Rico, and ECC, the system will act as a broker for students wishing to research and apply to online study in the United States. Dr. Andreu Vea (Global Member): Who is Who in the Internet WorldAwarded for work on continuation of an Internet history project that focuses on creating an easy to read repository of the hidden history of the Internet as explained by its main local protagonists. ISOC Indonesia (Chapter in Formation): Agricultural Production Monitoring & Control Using Web-based SolutionsMr. Irwan Effendi awarded for a project to bring Internet technology to the Indonesian agricultural industry by setting up a pilot project for mapping the fields and farmers, and based on the statistics of the nationwide demand, make recommendations to the farmers as to what kind of crops they should plant and how much of each, so that the market will not experience over supply or rarity of any single crop. This should in turn improve the financial condition of the farmers. ISOC Cambodia: KhmerOS Software Initiative: Training & DocumentationMr. Norbert Klein awarded for a project creating and distributing free basic final-user software in Khmer (Cambodian) language, so that users will not have to learn a foreign language in order to acquire computer skills and access information through the Internet.
