John Schnizlein, Technology Program Manager

John Schnizlein joined the Internet Society's Standards & Technology Department in June 2008. As Technology Program Manager, he organizes and leads aspects of the Internet Society's work in advancing the development and deployment of open standards and promoting the Internet's collaborative development and operational management model.

John has been contributing in the IETF since 2000, having consumed its product since 1983. He has been involved in standards development and consulting for Cisco Systems related to differentiated services, policy, configuration, authentication and authorization. Before that he designed and deployed computer networks for the US Congress and Virginia Commonwealth University. He also wrote building automation systems at Robertshaw Controls and taught computer science and collaborated on human-computer interaction research at George Washington University.

John earned a Ph.D in Psychology and an M.S in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of New Mexico.

John is based in Reston, USA
