Paul Ferguson is a Senior Consulting Engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc., in the office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He is based in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. His principal discipline is core Internet Architecture -- routing protocols and large-scale network design, global routing issues, and spends most of his time working with Internet Service Providers. Paul is an active participant in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as well as the North American Network Operators Group (serving on the NANOG advisory board), and has also authored several IETF RFC's (Requests For Comments), written articles for various trade journals and publications on networking issues, and coauthored a book on Internet QoS (Quality of Service).

He is dedicated to the success of the Internet and strives to help make the Internet scale and function so that people throughout the world will have an opportunity to both access and benefit from it.
