Maître Olivier ITEANU

Olivier ITEANU was born on June 28, 1962 in Paris. A French citizen, he is married with four children. Having graduated from the University of Paris II (Assas) with a degree in Law, he has been a member of the Bar of Paris since December 1988.

Olivier ITEANU manages a law Firm he founded, which has a dedicated
practice to Information Technology. Olivier ITEANU also holds the following positions:

  • Chairman of the French Chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC-FRANCE) since June 2000
  • Chairman of the European Co-ordination of the Chapters of the Internet Society from June 2000 until June 2001
  • Expert at the domain name administrative panel of the World Intellectual Property Organization
  • Arbitrator of the International Forum Arbitration (USA)
  • Member of the TENOR professional group (ECTA France), a trade organization bringing together the suppliers of vocal and fax resources and services. Vice-Chairman from March 1997 to March 1999 and main contact for its legal committee
  • Head of the Legal Committee of the Association Française du Commerce et des Echanges Electroniques (AFCEE) (French association of electronic commerce and trade) until its merger with AFTEL in 2000

Olivier ITEANU has also been nominated as one of the nine members of the At
Large Study Committee (ALSC) by the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names And Numbers (ICANN), the worldwide regulator for domain
names and IP addresses. He is one of the two European representatives.

He has been also nominated as a member of the selecting committee of the
Internet Review Panel (IRP), one division at the top of ICANN's structure
for two years.

Olivier ITEANU is the author of the following publications

  • the first French book treating Internet and Law (May 1996)
  • an AFTEL and ISOC report on domain name reform dated May 1997 (co
    authorship)
  • "the new telecom market" Editions Eyrolles (May 1998)
  • "dictionnaire permanent Internet et le droit" (three volumes) published by Les Editions Législatives in May 2001

Each year since 1995, Olivier ITEANU has published more than 30 contributions in professional magazines.

Approved Representative and Adviser of Agence pour la Protection des Programmes (APP). (Agency for Programme Protection) since 1989, he is a member of the Editorial Committee of EXPERTISES des systèmes d'informations, the sole monthly magazine treating Information Technology and Law in France, and member of the editorial committee of the Quaterly magazine Droit de l'Informatique et des Télécommunications.

He is also Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the professional organization TENOR (ECTA France)

He is responsible for the Information Technology course at the French School for Bar of Paris (Ecole Française des Barreaux). He also contributes as a speaker for the judges before the French School for magistrates in Bordeaux and Paris.
