• President & CEO of DoCoMo Communications Laboratories USA, Inc.
  Leading 4G mobile network research including topics related to IETF and IRTF WGs such as Mobile IP, Seamoby, PANA and Micro-mobility.

  Planning and preparation for the DoCoMo Communications Laboratories USA Inc.
• Director & Executive Research Engineer,Multimedia Labs,
  NTT DoCoMo (July 1992 - )
  Led the mobile multimedia and signal processing R&D projects for 3G (W-CDMA) and 2G, including
  • robust header compression (ROHC),
  • MPEG-4 audio-visual coding,
  • mobile extension of ITU-T Videophone
  • channel coding, and
  • multimedia terminal prototyping.

• Chairman of MPEG-4 subcommittee of Japanese National Body.

• Co-Chairman of the Video Verification Tests Ad-Hoc Group and
  the Audio Error Resilience Ad-Hoc Group in MPEG. (1997/7-1999/10)
• Member of ARIB STD-27 CODEC WG from 1991 through 1995 for
  the work of PDC half-rate speech coding standardization.
