Richard Perlman's
Statement:
I have served ISOC since 1985 in various capacities, including my present
role as VP of Conferences. Over the years I have had a unique opportunity
to both be part of the system and also stand outside the system and look
on as an observer. With the Internet Society now facing critical challenges
in purpose, finance and governance, I think my ability to understand and
communicate with a range of segments and views and to synthesize collectively
agreeable answers is truly needed on the board. As an employee of an organizational
member, I am also aware of the relationship between ISOC and its organizational
members, and the needs of each party: member and ISOC. As a member of
the Board of trustees I think I can represent the needs and desires of
the organizational member with clarity and visibility. I strongly believe
that ISOC and its organizational members have a significant role to play
in the expansion and extension of the Internet and wish to continue to
that development in the most effective manner, as a member of the ISOC
Board of Trustees.
