From that point on, I successfully launched the Luxembourg chapter of ISOC, which I have been chairing from the start. I was instrumental in establishing ISOC-ECC (European chapters Coordinating Council) as a formal, chartered council within ISOC. I was previously involved in ISTF, where I also served as the webmaster of the ISTF web site. These experiences have allowed me to gain a good knowledge of the issues which ISOC has to face. Think Global, Act local In my opinion, ISOC should get more involved at the regional and local level. Although the Internet is global, most policy decisions are made at the local or, at best, regional level. This is where local chapters can help ISOC make our voice heard. The chapters are the real added value to the ISOC model, because they are close to the average Internet user. It does also make sense to build, inside ISOC, formal links between chapters which have common concerns, be it regional policy issues or a common language. The European Chapter Coordinating Council is the first example of this. I do hope others will follow. Obviously, chapters need the full attention of the Board, because they are the part of ISOC which is the most visible locally. Chapters need to become more professional, but at the same time, most do not have the resources to reach that goal. Hence, I do expect ISOC to financially support its chapters to be able to reach more ambitious goals. If elected, my main priorities will be to:
