Running for candidacy in the Chapter Elections

Through my candidature, I call all the chapters, and more particularly those in Africa, to strengthens our community and to, like the African Union, like the Nepad project and of all these projects of regional and continental integration, work to help mutually by using our expertise, by valuing our experiments and the projects that we led...

My feeling and my conviction are that today, we have a community which, strong of its differences, has to play a role more consistent in the ISOC organisation and the structures of management of the internet (ICANN).

We do not live the same technological and economic realities as the other continents, what did not constitute a handicap, but brought us rather a big capacity of innovation.

We have to learn from our brothers of the other continents who knew how to maintain strong links between them, to find solutions of their challenges and share them like the community of the Free software.

The work of all these pioneers, who on a national scale, created these chapters (my thought goes towards Pr Nwodo from ISOC Nigeria, which left us ) , give us the challenge to make the same work on the scale of the continent, beyond the cultural and linguistic barriers which constitute our major handicap today to build Africa of the 21th century.

I invite all the chapters, despite their geographic origin, and ISOC HQ to provide to ISOC communauty, like AFNOG, AFRINIC , (AFNOG VI has just ended in Maputo in Mozambique, congratulations has all those who made their contribution to this event and Thanks to all Geeks ), spaces of meetings and debates on the questions which call us in the regional and continental scale.

Beyond the election in the BOT of ISOC , I shall continue to work in this sense, to build within our community a strong body which can act as a lobby for the political and economic decision-makers, so that Internet becomes an expression of the citizenship and the democracy in our continent.

A travers ma candidature, je lance un appel a tous les chapitres, et plus particulièrement Africains, pour que notre communauté se renforce et que à l'image de l'Union Africaine, du Nepad et des tous ces projets d'intégration régionale et continentale, nous travaillions à nous entraider mutuellement en utilisant notre expertise, en valorisant nos expériences et les projets que nous avons mené ...

Mon sentiment et ma conviction sont qu'aujourd'hui, nous disposons d'une communauté qui, forte de ses différences, doit jouer un rôle de plus en plus important au niveau de ISOC et des nouvelles structures de gestion de l'Internet (ICANN).

Nous ne vivons pas les mêmes réalités technologiques et économiques que les autres continents, ce qui n'a pas constitué un handicap, mais nous a apporté plutôt une grande capacité d'innovation.

Nous avons encore à apprendre des expériences de nos frères des autres continents qui ont su maintenir des liens forts pour trouver des solutions à leurs défis et partager cellesci à l'image de la communauté du Libre.

Que les efforts de tous ces pionniers, qui à l'échelle nationale, ont créé ces chapitres (ma pensée va vers le Pr Nwodo qui nous a quitté ces jours ci ) , nous incitent à faire de même à l'échelle du continent, au delà des barrières culturelles et linguistiques qui constituent notre handicap majeur aujourd'hui pour bâtir l'Afrique du 21ème siècle.

Je convie tous les chapitres, quelque soit leur origine géographique, d'apporter leur soutien à ISOC pour qu'à l'image de AFNOG, AFRINIC, (AFNOG VI vient de se terminer à Maputo au Mozambique, félicitations a tous ceux qui ont apporté leur contribution à cet événement et Merci à tous les Geeks), nous ayons des espaces de rencontres et de débats sur les questions qui nous interpellent à l'échelle régionale et continentale.

Au-delà de l'élection au BOT de ISOC, je continuerai d'uvrer dans ce sens, pour faire de notre communauté une force de propositions auprès des décideurs politiques et économiques, pour que Internet devienne une expression de la citoyenneté et de la démocratie dans notre continent.
