Question 9: What place education for Africans within ISOC?

We are aware that ISOC has a great deal of experience with education
and/or outreach projects. One of the questions has related to
establishing a balance between 3 pillars. However, very little has
been said so far in the discussion about education and we are
wondering if outreach even remains an active issue for ISOC.

In Africa, the vast majority of the population has no idea or very
little idea of what the Internet is and what it may be used for. Does
outreach of this type fit into ISOC's global agenda at all and if
yes, how does its scope relate to the standards pillar?

(this question is adapted from a question raised by the President of
an African ISOC chapter)
