2006 Board Election

Nominations Committee announces final ballot

March 23 2006

Dear ISOC Members:

As you know, the 2006 ISOC Board of Trustee Election process is underway. The Nominating Committee, which I have chaired, has completed overseeing the petition process and consequently the ballot of candidates to the ISOC Board of Trustees for this year's election has now been finalized.

Here is the complete slate of candidates for election to the Board:

Organizational Member Trustee positions (two positions to be filled this year):

Bill St Arnaud, Canada
David Isenberg, USA
Baoping Yan, China
Gerri Sinclair, Canada
Spencer Dawkins, USA

Chapter Trustee positions (one position to be filled this year):

Richard Bell, Kenya
Franck Martin, Fiji
Artur Serra, Spain

You may see background and election related information from each candidate here.

On behalf of the Nominating Committee and ISOC, I wish to thank all those who applied for nomination as well as all those who are standing for election. We had, across the board, a very capable and experienced group to consider. Service on the ISOC Board is important and constitutes a direct and significant contribution to the prudent evolution of the Internet for the benefit of all. Those who volunteered to stand for election deserve the thanks of our community.

The candidates will be invited to participate in a Candidates' Forum that has been arranged by the Election Committee under the chairmanship of Veni Markovski. That Forum will be viewable here.

The Forum will pose questions from the Election Committee to the candidates and solicit their replies. If any member of the ISOC community has a question that they wish to suggest please send it to the Election Committee at: QandA2006@isoc.org

The designated Election Representative in each of the eligible Organizational Members will be voting in the Organizational Member Trustee election and the designated Election Representative of each of the eligible Chapters will be voting in the Chapters Trustee election. The final date for ballots to be received is April 29th at 23:59 US Eastern Daylight Savings Time which will be 03:59 on April 30th GMT.

We encourage those of you who are members of the eligible chapters and organizations to follow the Candidates' Forum and to make your views regarding candidate selection known to your Election Representative.
