Internet Society Announces INET 2000

RESTON, VA - 10 March 2000 -- INET 2000, the tenth annual conference of the Internet Society, holds an unprecedented track record for Internet Conferences. INET 2000 is the most comprehensive and inclusive meeting of Internet professionals addressing issues emanating from the Internetıs impact on commerce and finance, education, technologies and societies throughout the world.

"ISOC's long history as an authority on the issue of expanding Internet access on a global level makes INET 2000 our most important conference. There is a critical need to build out the infrastructure of the Internet so that more people are able to get online, sooner than later," said Don Heath, President/CEO of ISOC.

More than 2000 delegates from 150 countries annually attend INET. More than 100 papers and panels revolving around eight Internet themes:

The Jonathan B. Postel Service Award - 2000 will also be awarded during INET. The award is named for Dr. Jonathan B. Postel in recognition of his extraordinary stewardship during a thirty-year career in networking. The award honors a person who has made outstanding contributions in service to the data communications community and the recipient is presented an engraved crystal globe and US $20,000.00
