ISOC Recognizes Contributions of Veni Markovski

Reston, VA and Geneva, Switzerland - 26th January 2006 - The Internet Society would like to recognize the contributions of Veni Markovski, former ISOC Trustee and long-time supporter of the organization for his longstanding commitment to the Internet Society and the international development of the Internet.

Veni recently stepped down from the ISOC Board of Trustees to take on a new assignment as ICANN Regional Liaison for Armenia, Azerbeijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Many members of the Internet community are familiar with Veni from his work in the early 1990’s with online services in Bulgaria. In addition to working on his country’s first Internet services, he was co-founder and Chair of the Internet Society of Bulgaria. “We wish Veni well in his new endeavor,” says Lynn St. Amour, ISOC President and CEO, “and we look forward to working with him in the ongoing development of the Internet.”
