Communications Week International Named Official International Publication for INET'99 - The Internet Global Summit
Washington, D.C. 5 March 1999 The Internet Society (ISOC)
and EMAP Media Ltd. today announced that Communications Week International (CWI) has been appointed the official International publication for ISOC's INET'99 conference, taking place in San Jose, California July 22-25, 1999.
"CWI is the leading international Net publication, and what people around the world read to find out what is going on in the industry," said Martin Burack, Executive Director of the Internet Society. "INET'99 is the conference where it's all happening, so this is a perfect match."
INET is the premier event in the Internet industry and provides an international platform at which the world's leaders and pioneers of cyberspace meet to exchange experiences, share information, and plan their next steps that will shape the future of the Internet. INET'99 is expected to attract an estimated 3,000 attendees from more than 100 countries to address the impact of the Internet on commerce, education and societies throughout the world.
"INET is the place to go to meet the industry's movers and shakers," said Malcolm Laws, publishing director of Emap's communications group. "And CWI is delighted be named as its official international publication and to be associated again with the conference."
Multiple conference tracks will address critical issues ranging from network engineering to user needs, from the redefinition of commerce to the Internet's role as a conduit for
social change, and from the transformation of education to regulatory issues. Information

INET'99 is preceded by a workshop for educators, a developing countries networking symposium, technical tutorials, and a Network Training Workshop that -during the past six years- has taught more than 1,200 people from developing countries how to design, install, maintain and manage Internet networks.
