The Internet is still not accessible to the majority of the world's people. In order to achieve sustainable economic growth, developing countries must have access to the Internet. The Internet Society (ISOC), through its Network Training workshops, tutorials, conferences and various programs, plays a significant role in making this a reality.

As a member of the Internet Society, not only will you enjoy valuable exposure for your organization, but you can also help make a difference through supporting our Education and Training efforts:

Network Training Workshops (NTWS)

Held since 1993, our annual Network Training Workshops for individuals from developing countries around the world have focused on the design, operation and management of IP networks. The workshops are taught in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Over 2,500 professionals have been trained and they have played vital roles in setting up the Internet connections and networks in nearly every developing country.

Regional Network Training Workshops

Building on the experiences from our Network Training Workshops, NTW instructors with the added support of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie recently began holding national and regional workshops. These workshops have been held in such places as Mexico, Venezuela, Vietnam, India, Senegal, Morocco, Tunis and a number of other countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The workshops are now designed to leave a permanent training center at each location. This was most recently accomplished in Madagascar. They are expected to evolve into additional Sustainable Internet Training efforts and we are working with various partners to implement these programs. Funding is critical to expanding these efforts.

Internet Global Summit (INET)

Held annually since 1992, The INET Conference is the premier event in the Internet industry, providing an international forum for advancing the development and implementation of Internet networks, technologies, applications and policies. Attendees examine strategic issues emanating from the Internet's impact on commerce and finance, education, technology and society.

Network and Distributed System Security Symposium (NDSS)

This annual event brings together researchers, implementers and users of network and distributed system security technologies, from across the world. The symposium encourages the wide-scale deployment of security technologies and promotes new research to address the constantly changing security needs of the global Internet community.

Internet Fiesta

First held in 1998 and sponsored by the Internet Society and the European Union, the Internet Fiesta has spread to virtually all corners of the world and is now an annual international celebration. It is designed to help increase access to the Internet and to promote its use worldwide. More than 10,000 events in over 35 countries offer a wide range of innovative activities in which to showcase the possibilities of the Internet and to help newcomers ‘get on the net'.

The Internet Society provides expertise or referrals in specific areas of Internet development for countries requesting support. Your membership dollars can help us respond to more of these requests.
