2004 Internet Society (ISOC) Elections Results

On behalf of the entire Elections Committee, I want to thank the terrific slate of candidates who stood for election to the Internet Society Board of Trustees class of 2007. Similarly, I want to thank the voters in the election and their efforts to cast thoughtful ballots.

There were three selection processes underway during the last few months.

For the election of Trustees by Organization Members, 88 members were eligible to vote, and we received 47 ballots. The percentage of organizational members participating was essentially the same as last year. No ballots were spoiled or were otherwise invalid. After a complete count, factoring in membership-level weighting, the results are:

Desirée Miloshevic 61 votes
Larry Landweber 52 votes

Accordingly, Desirée Miloshevic and Larry Landweber are declared elected to the Internet Society Board of Trustees for 3-year terms.

For the election of Trustees by Chapters, 75 chapters were eligible to vote, and we received 39 ballots. No ballots were spoiled or were otherwise invalid. After a complete count, the results are:

Patrick Vande Walle 22 votes

Accordingly, Patrick Vande Walle is declared elected to the Internet Society Board of Trustees for a 3-year term.

As part of ISOC's election process, one member of the Board is named by the IETF, through selection by the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and confirmation by the IESG. We are pleased to be able to announce that Erik Huizer will be returning for a new three year term on the Internet Society
Board of Trustees.

As chair of the Elections Committee, let me congratulate the new trustees and thank all the candidates. I trust all of the candidates will find ways to make contributions to the Internet Society.

Formal ratification of the election results is dependent on the outcome of the challenge period. Challenges must be received no later than 5:00 pm, EDT on April 25, 2004. Challenges may be raised by an official representative of an Organization Member, a Candidate, a Trustee or by a member of the
Nominations or Elections Committees. Replies to any challenges are due no later than May 12, 2004.

Glenn Ricart
Chair, Elections Committee
