ISOC Joins StopSpam Alliance

RESTON, Virginia and GENEVA, Switzerland, 9 June 2007 - The Internet Society (ISOC) has become an Associate Partner in the StopSpam Alliance. The Alliance is an international multi-stakeholder cooperative effort to coordinate international action against spam and related threats to the Internet more effectively by sharing information and resources among participating entities.

The StopSpam Alliance is an initiative in line with the WSIS Tunis Agenda, asking members to deal effectively with the significant and growing problem posed by spam. This support includes development of multilateral frameworks for regional and international cooperation, and calls upon all stakeholders to adopt a multi-pronged approach to counter spam, which should include: consumer and business education, legislation, law-enforcement, best practices; and international cooperation

The Internet Society has a long history of working cooperatively with organizations to further the growth and development of the Internet. Read more...

StopSpam Alliance is an international co-operative effort initiated by the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC), the EU Contact Network of Enforcement Authorities (CNSA), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the London Action Plan (LAP), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Seoul-Melbourne Anti-Spam Group.
